Florence Julia Bach, 1887-1978, was born in Buffalo, New York. She began her study of art in
that city at the Albright Art Gallery and continued at the Art Students League in New York with William
Merritt Chase and Frank Vincent DuMond. She traveled to France and studied with Louis LeJeune in Paris.
Working both as a sculptor and painter her works were exhibited extensively. She was a member of and exhibited
with the Buffalo Society of Artists for many years, winning prizes in 1915, 1918, 1919, 1921, 1922 and 1924. In
1932 she was awarded a medal for distinguished service in art at the Buffalo Centennial.
She was an active member of the Grand Central Art Gallery in New York City and in 1944 had a solo exhibition in
their gallery. In 1951 an exhibition of her flower paintings was also held at Grand Central Gallery.
She was associated with the Buffalo School of Fine Arts and the Albright Art Gallery.
