Paisaje Andino
Alfonso Sánchez Urteaga, better known by the name of Camilo Blas, was born in Cajamarca, Peru. He was one of the painters involved in the national "Indigenous Movements". He studied at the Colegio Nacional San Ramón of Cajamarca. When he was a child he already showed his artistic approach with his drawings and sketches. His uncle, the famous painter Mario Urteaga, was his first support to start his calling as a painter.
He attended the Trujillo National University as a law student. And he also attended the National School of Fine Arts of Lima. His masters were Daniel Hernández and José Sabogal, while his peers were Ricardo Flórez, Camino Brent and Julia Codesido.

Casa Trujillana
During many years he was a Fine Arts Professor at the Fine Arts School of Ayacucho and then Director of that same school.
The work of master Camilo Blas is characterized by his indigenous-oriented theme, also known as "indigenista". Its form of expression is expressed through very thick and vigorous strokes. Strong figures, almost static, of Andean spirits, are presented pleasant and original. His color is very simplified yet harmonious and precise. He knew how to apply the "naïf" art in his drawings, adding his own touch of color and finesse.

Cuesta de Pumacurco
By his great amount of drawings showing Peruvian customs, from Cajamarca or from the rest of Peru, he is also considered the "Panch Fierro" of the mountains.
Her daughter Hilda Sanchez de Casaretto, remembers him warmly: "He was not temperamental. He was very kind and had much sense of humor. A caring father, he always had a gentle word for all the people"
