Portrait of Louis de Fontanes

|
Henri-Pierre Danloux was an 18th century
French painter and draftsman. Though Danloux was more
influential as a draftsman, he was also an accomplished
painter. He lived much of his life in Lyon, though he
studied painting and drawing in Italy. |

Rosalie Duthé, 1792
|
|
Many of his oils were
history paintings and his portraiture was filled with
detailed settings and telling features of the fabric of
clothes. Following the example of Jean-Baptiste-Simeon
Chardin, he often painter his sitters in an informal
pose. |
