Portrait of a Woman
Johann Georg Edlinger was an 18th century Austrian artist. He was apprenticed early on to Embert, and in 1765, traveled to Vienna to work with Tuchmeyer. In 1770, he traveled to Munich to study with Oefele, and later began to paint in the Rococo style under the influence of George de Marees.
Family Portrait 1800
Edlinger eventually became a well known portrait, painting the likeness of such sitters as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. During his lifetime, he was even hailed as quite possibly the best portrait painter in Germany.
