Anton Graff was an 18th century German painter. Though born in Switzerland , Graff spent much of his life in Germany , and is considered by some art historians to be one of the most important painters of his time.
Portrait of Prince Heinrich XIII
Graff served as a lecturer at the Dresden Academy , and was a highly sought after portrait painter. Towards the end of his life, Graff painted mainly landscapes, most likely due to failing eyesight or health conditions. He was a very prolific painter, and today, more than 2000 of his works survive.
