Alfonso Ossorio was a American Abstract painter who was born in the Philippines. Ossorio initially started out painting in an Expressionistic style but quickly evolved into an abstract artist. He was highly influenced by the works of Jackson Pollock and used a variety of mixed media to create his colorful compositions.

Ossorio initially began experimenting with Abstract art in the 1940s, and by the 1950’s and 1960’s, he was incorporating a variety of items into his paintings, such as shells, sand, rocks, and other found objects. This mixture of heavy impasto paint and highly textured items created a unique and beautiful look that collector’s still look for today.
