Anton Petter was a 19th century Austrian painter who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, as well as in Rome. He was the son of architect Johann Baptist Petter and the cousin of sculptor Franz Xaver Petter.

He eventually became a professor of history painting at the Vienna Academy, and as a result, much of his oeuvre consists of historical paintings.
