Prochazka was the contemporary of Czech artist, Emil Filla. Both Filla and Prochazka helped to give Czechloslovakia a cultural identity in the international art community. Prochazka’s art was particularly popular in between the First and Second World Wars. During the inter-war period European painters enjoyed a time of creative growth and tolerance. The Czech Cubists were most active in Prague between 1910 and 1914. Other prominent artists in the group included Pavel Janak, Josef Gocar, Josef Chocol and Vlastislav Hofman. Czech Cubism became popular, not only in the fine art but design. Architecture, home furnishings and everyday objects referenced the Czech Cubist movement. |
