Charles Louis Virion
was born on December 1, 1865 in Ajaccio on the Island of
Corsica. He studied the craft of sculpting in Paris
under the instruction of Charles Aguthier.
The first record of Virion's exhibits at the Salon was
in 1886. He continued to exhibit his sculptures until
the 1930s. He received honors for his awards in 1893,
1894, and 1900. He died in 1946.
Very little is known about the sculptor’s life. His
subject of choice was animals, and there are very
limited pieces of his work, making them coveted by art
dealers. |
