Jean-Louis Voille was an 18th century French painter. He studied under Drouais and worked extensively in Russia during the 1770’s and 1780’s when he became court painter to the throne under Catherine the Great. Voille returned to France in the 1790’s after refusing to sign an oath from Catherine the Great denouncing the French Revolution.

Voille was known particularly for his delicate treatment of portraits and today many of his paintings are housed in prestigious collections around the world.
