Antonio Gattorno
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Teresa Cabral lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is the niece of the famous Cuban surrealist painter, Antonio Gattorno (1904-1980). She inherited her father’s collection of paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics, furniture, and extensive files consisting of catalogs, photographs, and correspondence. She also inherited a wide variety of her father’s personal and professional ephemera. Cabral along with her husband, Sean Poole, formed the Gattorno Foundation, curate exhibitions of Gattorno’s works, and published a book about the artist. The current recognition of Gattorno as a major exponent of 20th century Cuban art is largely due to their efforts. |
