For 5 years there were no thefts of Pierre-August Renoir paintings but it all changed this year.

Fish (Les Poissons) was taken in March and today Portrait of Madame Pichon, Portrait of Madame Colonna Romano, Coco Reading (Coco lisant), and Young Woman at the Well (Jeune femme au puits) were taken from the very Musée Renoir in Cagnes-sur-Mer, on the French Riviera, the town where Renoir retired and spent the last 12 years of his life.

Fortunately the thieves abandoned 2 of the paintings in the garden, reducing the value of the theft to about €5 million or US$6 million.
