Eugen Dücker was an Estonian painter born in Arensburg. Dücker spent much of his artistic career in Düsseldorf, Germany, working with artists of the Düsseldorf School of Painting. Dücker had several pupils and followers who made similar works.

Dücker’s paintings largely consist of highly detailed and romantic landscapes. He painted both countryside and seascapes in an idyllic manner. Many of Dücker’s paintings are oil on canvas, though he also did works on paper with watercolor and gouache. Dücker often painted ‘en plein air’ allowing him to give a more naturalistic quality to his paintings.

While Dücker spent much of his later life in Germany, he often returned to Estonia where he made a number of paintings.
