Mayer painting, Portrait of Ange Lucie

Portrait of Ange Lucie

Marie-Francoise-Constance Mayer La Martiniere was a French 18th century Neoclassical painter. She was born in Paris and was the student and mistress of Pierre-Paul Prud’hon. It is generally thought that many of the paintings Mayer created were credited to Prud’hon, though she is remembered today as an excellent miniaturist and painter of religious and genre scenes.
