Jean-Germain Drouais was an 18th century French Neoclassical painter.
He was born in Paris and mainly painted historical scenes. He learned to paint from his father, Hubert Drouais, who was also an artist, and also studied under David.

Drouais was highly influenced by the old masters, such as Raphael, and completed his last painting “Philoctetus on the Island of Lemnos” in 1788 before he died at the very young age of 25.
