Noël Hallé was an 18th century French Classical Rococo painter. Hallé was originally trained as an architect and eventually became a supreme painter of historical and religious subjects. Despite being a painter, Hallé was also an inspector of tapestries at the Gobelines factory and a well respected engraver.
The Death of the Seneca
Hallé was often commissioned by French nobles to create allegorical paintings as well as portraits. He was named a member of the Order of St. Michel and also led the Academie de France in Rome.
