There is only one authentic portrait of Amedeo Avogadro in existence. Avogadro was an Italian chemist and physicist. He is best known for Avogadro's law, a gas law that greatly affected modern day chemistry. However, the scientist worked in seclusion and was not recognized for his work until long after his death. The Italian scientist was born in 1776 and died in 1856.
